The Workroom was between the Rumpus Room and the SITE Office and was where we usually sat to plot the coming installs and events in the exhibit. It had a lot of artifacts, new and old from Stockyard Institute.

On either side of the twinned green tables were tributes to the late, great, artist and educator, Michael Piazza. His portrait painted by Mike Omens adorns the first set of Musical Chairs, aka “Requiem” on the left, and the briefcase of Piazza’s publications that Jim collected for a retrospective at College of DuPage sat on a plinth at the right.
Of the old Stockyard Stock, we also had two gigantic mosaic portraits by Brian Sikes that have been in Jim’s care for years. Lastly, we had some fresh new drawings of Nomadic Bikes by Kevin Cyr, but we’ll focus in on those shortly. The Workroom was a great spot to sketch things out, meet with artists, and sometimes just sit quietly and do nothing at all.
